Bye Bye, Booth Babes

In case you’re somehow unfamiliar with the term “booth babe”, perhaps having never been to or spoken with anyone about conventions of any kind, the term typically refers to a person of the female persuasion working at a convention booth for the purposes of calling attention to a given product within said booth or the booth in general. Both booth babes and the companies that have hired them over the years have been both admired (mostly by young male convention attendees) or come under fire for what is considered by many as exploitation, both of the women working as booth babes, and of the men they are meant to attract. So when one convention decided to do something about it, the response was mixed. And one response in particular, from our fellow Nerd Mafia members at G33kPron, led us to the discussion in this week’s video. Enjoy!
